Voice Consent Policy

AltVoice clones one voice: yours. This policy explains what you confirm when you record it, how the recording is processed, and how anyone can report a voice used without permission.

Last updated September 15, 2026 · Version 2026-09-15.3

1. Your own voice only

Voice cloning in AltVoice is limited to the account holder's own voice. The only way to create a voice reference is to record yourself live with your microphone inside the AltVoice interface. Audio files cannot be uploaded as references, and there is no way to submit a recording of another person. Voices that are not your own are available only as AltVoice library presets or as designed synthetic voices, which are not derived from a specific real person.

2. What you confirm when you record

Before a recording is saved or used, you tick a confirmation stating that the recording is your own voice, captured just now with your microphone, that you authorize AltVoice to store and process it to synthesize speech in your voice for your own use, and that you will not record or submit another person's voice. This confirmation is your explicit consent to the processing described in section 4. You give it for each saved voice and reaffirm it for each generation that uses a saved voice.

3. What is not allowed

You may not play back, stream, route, or imitate another person's voice into the microphone, use a virtual audio device to present a file as a live recording, or otherwise present a voice that is not your own as yours. This includes the voices of public figures, clients, employees, family members, deceased persons, and characters performed by someone else. Because accounts are for adults only, no minor's voice may be recorded. Doing any of these things is a material breach of the Terms of Service and the Acceptable Use Policy, may lead to immediate termination, and leaves you fully responsible for the consequences.

4. How your recording is processed

A recording and the technical representation derived from it may be personal, biometric, or sensitive data under some laws. AltVoice and its configured model processors may store, transmit, analyze, and transform the recording to create a private voice reference or embedding, synthesize speech you request, provide playback and saved voices, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot failures. We do not use the recording for identity authentication or eligibility decisions.

Depending on the model you choose, synthesis runs on AltVoice-operated servers or on external inference providers named in the Privacy Policy. The voice identifier a provider derives from your recording is created for one generation only: where a provider builds a private voice model on our behalf, we queue its deletion as soon as that generation finishes and never reuse it. The durable copy of your voice is the recording in your library, which you can delete at any time. Retention periods are described on the Data Retention page.

This authorization covers the requested voice features only. Publication in a public voice library, dataset sales, and general-purpose model training are outside its scope and would require separate authorization from you.

5. Library presets and designed voices

Voice presets supplied in the AltVoice library are derived from an openly licensed research speech corpus whose license permits commercial use; AltVoice handles the required attribution. Designed voices are generated from a text description and are not modelled on a specific real person. Using either does not require the recording confirmation, but your scripts, generated outputs, and use of those outputs remain subject to this policy, the Acceptable Use Policy, and applicable law.

6. Consent evidence

For each recording and generation, AltVoice keeps the confirmation text and version, the time, a cryptographic fingerprint of the recording, the source of the recording, a pseudonymous account identifier, a hashed network address, and browser information as evidence of your confirmation. This audit record does not contain another copy of the audio and is kept separately from the recording itself so that it can establish what was confirmed even after the recording is deleted.

7. Disclosure of synthetic audio

You must clearly disclose that output is AI-generated or manipulated whenever required by law or platform rules, and whenever omitting that fact could mislead a reasonable listener about whether a real person actually spoke, endorsed, authorized, or participated in the content. You may not remove provenance markers that AltVoice adds to generated audio.

8. Withdrawing consent and deleting your voice

You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting the saved voice from your library, deleting your account, or writing to [email protected]. Deletion removes the recording; provider-side models are not retained between generations, and any model still in flight is queued for deletion, subject to the provider's deletion cycle and the limited backup and legal-preservation periods described on the Data Retention page. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing, and consent evidence may be retained as described in section 6.

9. Reporting a voice used without permission

If you believe your voice, or a voice you represent, was recorded into AltVoice by someone else, use our report form or contact [email protected]. No AltVoice account is needed. Identify the recording, generation, or location at issue, explain the rights in dispute, and provide contact details and available supporting evidence. State whether you are the speaker, their representative, or reporting a concern as a third party. Do not send identity documents or additional sensitive recordings unless we request them through an appropriate channel. We may ask for clarification or proportionate evidence of identity or authority.

We assess the identified material, supporting evidence, urgency, and the consent record for the reference. We may seek clarification from the reporter and the account holder and restrict the disputed voice or activity during review. We may remove generated output, preserve relevant logs, block future generation, suspend or terminate the account, and cooperate with lawful requests where required. A report does not itself establish a violation or require suspension of unrelated users or the entire service. Immediate action may be taken where necessary to address credible harm or comply with legal obligations.

Either party may request reconsideration by emailing the case number and relevant evidence to [email protected]. Where permitted and appropriate, we explain the decision and consider corrections or new information. We may restore access where the restriction is no longer justified, while retaining necessary case evidence. Reviewing a report, restricting content, or offering assistance is not an admission of fault or liability. Deliberately false notices, forged evidence, and false claims of authority are prohibited. Good-faith reports and lawful remedies remain available.

10. Enforcement and responsibility

We may reject recordings, restrict references, and suspend or terminate accounts used for fraud, impersonation, or other violations. Our review, automated checks, or decision to allow a generation do not certify that a voice is yours or transfer responsibility for your conduct to AltVoice. You must not evade restrictions or submit false information to restore access.

11. Liability

You remain responsible for any recording that is not your own voice and for unlawful use of generated audio. The allocation of liability and compensation for third-party claims in sections 18 and 19 of the Terms of Service applies to this policy.
